Round 2 results and more!
Congratulations go out to our U14AA (Brett Gibson) team who won the Lakeshore Playoff Championship, beating the Quinte West Hawks 2-1 in overtime earlier this week and 6-1 today to get the higher seed at the OMHA Red Hat Championship in a couple of weeks. Great season for the U14AA group as they try to add to their already outstanding performance.
Congratulations to our U9MD (Nick Bohdanec) team who won the U9MD Lakeshore Championship this past weekend going undefeated and beating Peterborough 6-3 in the Final.
Our U8MD (Dave McMullen) finished their season with a tournament in Quinte West, the Lakeshore Championships. The team had a great showing leading all their games as they all came out winners.
Our U10A (Mike Lee) team has punched their ticket to the OMHA Final with two big wins this week against Clarington. Both games ended up 4-2 with the team finishing them off Friday night here in Kingston. The team is waiting for the winner of Belleville vs Peterborough, the series is currently tied 2 pts each with a game on Wednesday night.
Our U14A (Matt Murphy) team is in a heated battle with the team from Peterborough as both teams have won a game each (both by a goal) to force game 3 here on Wednesday night 7pm at Selkirk.
The U14A Red (Ian McAlpine) are playing tomorrow in North Durham as they hope to force a game 3 on Wednesday night as they are down 2pts to 0 for the first time in this year's playoffs. The team is looking to rebound from a rough third period on Saturday night.
After punching their tickets into the second round, the U12A (Michael Fisher) and U13A (Darrin Molleson) teams were taking down in tough series against Clarington and Whitby. The U13A team lost two close battles with Whitby 4-3 and 5-4 and the U12A team lost 4-2 and 4-0 to a tough 2nd place 44-point team from Clarington in the regular season.
Our older teams had a great showing this year, the U16AA (Brayden Robinson) team fought hard against first place Quinte West but lost two very close games. The U18A (Bob McCaw) team had a fantastic year and ran into a tough Clarington team in round two that didn't give up much in their two games and the U18AA (Shawn Empey) team beat a tough Peterborough team in game one but couldn't match the result in the final two games. Great seasons for all and great showing for the Kingston Canadians.
Big shout-out to Sue Quinton and her crew for another successful Kingston Canadian Tournament and U9MD Lakeshore Championships. Very lucky to have this crew that ran 5 tournaments this season with as many as 48 teams participating in one weekend!
