U9MD Program
KAMHA is pleased to announce our U9MD program for the 2022-2023 season
In the spring of 2022, the Ontario Hockey Federation in conjunction with the OMHA, announced the elimination of Representative hockey at U9 and below.
U9 and below programming is only permitted at the House League, Local League or MD (Minor Development) levels, across the OMHA and its member Associations.
This decision was deferred from the 2021-2022 season and will be in place for the 2022-2023 season.
Effective for the 2023-2024 season, the OHF will be in full compliance with Hockey Canada Pathways and eliminate all tiering at U9 and below.
The KAMHA executive has made a concerted effort to provide our U9 and below players with multiple opportunities to meet the needs and skill level of our young hockey players. KAMHA must also align itself with OMHA guidelines and adhere to OHF policies.
After consultation with our Lakeshore partners, KAMHA will be offering the following programming at U9 and below for the 2022-2023 season:
U9MD
At minimum, KAMHA will field one (1) MD team comprising between 15-18 players. The MD teams may compete against Lakeshore opponents and transition to full ice hockey after January 15th, 2023.
MD Jamborees/Tournaments will also be inclusive of the MD program.
Please note, the number of MD teams at U9 is contingent on registration numbers.
Team Selection/Evaluation Process
Families interested in MD at U9 first must register with KAMHA House League. Only players registered for our House League program will be considered.

U9MD will not hold traditional tryouts where players will be released. We will have multiple evaluation skates where players will be selected by a panel composed of coaches, and our development team that will be appointed by our VP of House League and VP of Rep to participate on the U9MD team. The evaluation skates will run at the same time as our U9 House League evaluation skates.
