KAMHA Evaluation (Tryout) Policy

Kingston Area Minor Hockey Association (KAMHA) is classified as an ‘AA’ Centre in the Ontario Minor Hockey Association (OMHA) and therefore, an “AA” team shall be selected prior to any other Rep teams. Once this has occurred, KAMHA will then select an “A” team.

This is considered a working document and will be updated on a regular basis.

Please note that all the information, policies, process and procedures outlined below may be subject to exception and change without notice depending on the situation by the KAMHA Executive

Registration:

  • All players in the surrounding area are welcomed to register and attend KAMHA’s Evaluations regardless of their home association. KAMHA does not currently have a policy limiting the number of out of town players eligible for selection to a team.

  • All players interested in attending KAMHA's Evaluations MUST register prior to stepping onto the ice in order to participate and be considered for a team. This allows our coaches and administrative team to properly prepare for Evaluations

  • Deadline to register for KAMHA Evaluations are as follows:

    • U9MD - April 10th and reopen on April 11th to April 12th

    • U10 to U13 - April 25th and reopen on April 26 to April 28th

    • U14 to U18 - April 27th and reopen on April 28th to April 30th

  • Registration for KAMHA Evaluations allows players to attend the Evaluations until they are selected or released at that particular level. (ex. If a player skates at KAMHA AA Rep Evaluation and is unsuccessful, they are able to skate at the KAMHA A Rep or BB Evaluation without having to register again or pay additional costs for those skates.)

  • Under no circumstances will players be allowed to attend Evaluations if they have not registered and paid for Evaluations online through Spordle.

  • If you are injured and would like to be considered for a team, you must still register for Evaluations, even if you are not able to participate at any ice sessions.

  • There will be no refunds if players decide not to attend Evaluations or decide to not complete Evaluations.

  • The link to register for Evaluations will be live on April 2nd, Please Click Here

  • If you are having trouble with the online registration please contact our registra Bonnie Denna at [email protected]

  • As per OHF, Permission to skate (PTS) or releases are no longer required in order to attend Evaluations outside of KAMHA.

  • If you have any outstanding balances owed to KAMHA from the past season, you will not be allowed to attend Evaluations for KAMHA or any other Association until you have settled all outstanding balances.

 Evaluations:

With open borders we anticipate large numbers of players attending KAMHA’s Evaluations. Although KAMHA cannot guarantee the number of ice times for each player, KAMHA coaches will, to the best of their abilities, give each player the best opportunity to demonstrate their abilities.

  • Evaluations dates and times are now posted, but are subject to change. So please ensure you are always looking at our Website for the most up to date schedule

  • This year all ages from U9MD to U18 will happen during the Spring. At this point, KAMHA had decided that we will not have a U8MD team, but if that changes we will hold those Evaluations in the Fall.

  • U9MD Evaluations will Start on April 11th

  • U10AA to U13AA Evaluations will start on April 26th

  • U14AA to U18AA Evaluations will start on April 28th

  • U10A to U13A Evaluations will start on May 3rd

  • U14A to U18A Evaluations will start on May 5th

  • U16BB and U18BB Evaluations will start on May 12th

  • In the divisions where KAMHA will have two (2) A teams, a Red and White, the tryouts will be merged and there will not be separate skates. Both teams will be selected and their offers of commitment will be presented at the same time. Players will not be allowed to choose which team they want to play for, Red or White.

  • Players are not guaranteed any number of skates or exhibition games during Evaluations at any level.

  • Players must be registered for Evaluations and attend at minimum one (1) ice time to be considered for any of KAMHA's Rep team.

Offers of Commitment:

  • Different from years past, when coaches offer a spot on a team, the player will receive a link to register on Spordle for the season that day and will have until noon the following day to register. If they do not register within the time-frame specified in the email, the Offer of Commitment may be rescinded by the coach. It is important to check your junk mail and ensure that the email address in your Spordle account is accurate as the time-frame to accept the offer starts based on when the email was sent.

  • By registering through Spordle, you will have accepted your offer and will be committed to the team.

  • As players are only allowed to register with one (1) team/Association for the season, once they register it will mean that they have accepted their Offer of Commitment and all other offers will be considered null and void.

  • An Offer of Commitment will only be considered accepted once the player has registered through the link provided through Spordle. Verbal or paper commitments will not be accepted.

  • The Fee for playing Rep Hockey with KAMHA this season is $2,650 and you will have the option to pay it in 4 installments

  • Evaluation Refunds:

There will be no refunds for any reason

****Please note that any underage players trying out for the team are allowed to at the AA level but must be evaluated in the top 3 skaters of the age group they are trying out for in order to make the team. We will only accept 1 skater if they are evaluated in the top 3 skaters and 1 goalie if the are evaluated as the top goalie for the age group they are trying out for. This only applies at the AA level. If an underage player fails to make the AA team they must go back to their age group****
