Kingston Canadians Rep Program – General Information
This section provides an overview of the structure, expectations, and scheduling of the Kingston Canadians Representative (Rep) Hockey Program. All information is subject to change without notice.
Program Overview
Rep Hockey is a fast-paced and highly competitive level of play for players aged 8 and older. As a designated AA Centre, KAMHA offers multiple levels of competitive hockey: AA, A, BB, and MD. Tryouts are held annually to select players who demonstrate advanced skills and performance in their respective age categories.
Rep Hockey requires a significantly greater commitment than House League, both in terms of time and financial investment. While exact schedules vary by division and week, Rep teams typically practice and play 3 to 5 times per week. Teams compete in the Lakeshore League and are expected to travel for road games. Most teams also participate in up to three tournaments per season.
Registration Fees and Costs
Participation in Rep Hockey involves two main fees:
-
Base House League Fee
-
Rep Fee Surcharge
These fees are determined annually by the KAMHA Executive and finalized before the start of tryouts. The Rep Fee covers the additional costs associated with the competitive program but does not include:

Each team is responsible for managing its own seasonal operating budget, which may include:
-
Tournament fees
-
Coach travel and accommodations
-
Team equipment and apparel
-
Other miscellaneous expenses
These costs are divided equally among all players. Fundraising is encouraged to help offset team expenses. At the start of each season, a mandatory parent meeting is held to review and approve the team budget.
Team Colours and Equipment Standards
All players must adhere to strict uniform standards. There are no exceptions to the required Royal Blue color scheme. Navy Blue is not permitted.
Mandatory Equipment Requirements:
-
Helmets: Royal Blue with Kingston Canadians logo stickers on each side. No other stickers are allowed.
-
Gloves: Royal Blue (or as close as possible) with Red or White as secondary colors.
-
Hockey Pants: Players must wear Royal Blue pant shells with the Kingston Canadians logo. This requirement also applies to goaltenders.
Pant shells must be purchased through Primetime, our official team store.

Players are responsible for replacing gear that is outgrown, lost, or damaged. With spring tryouts, all players are expected to have full, compliant gear in time for the start of the season.
Seasonal Schedule and Tournaments
Spring tryouts are held for divisions U8MD through U18, based on dates determined by the OMHA.
The season generally runs from early October to March, with each team playing approximately 25–30 games. Teams are allowed to participate in up to three tournaments. Teams may attend a fourth tournament if it is an early bird tournament scheduled in September.
KAMHA Rep Coaches Handbook
The KAMHA Rep Coaches Handbook outlines the policies and procedures that govern the Rep Program. Although designed as a guide for coaches, managers, and bench staff, it is highly recommended that all Rep families review the handbook to fully understand the program’s expectations and guidelines.
