Novice (Kingston Area Minor Hockey Association)

Novice Program (2010 birth year; Grade 3)

Our Novice program runs from the middle of September through March and includes 2 ice times per weekend (a practice and a full-ice 5-on-5 game) on Saturday and Sunday mornings.  Novice will continue to focus on fun and development and will introduce our players to full ice hockey.

The Novice program continues to build on the fundamental skills developed in the IP and Tyke programs and also serves as an introduction to hockey program for children entering grade 3 who have skated but have minimal experience with hockey (no skating or hockey experience is required for novice).  For the 2018-19 season all novice games will be full ice with scores kept and official OMHA referees.

Roster Select Program:

The Novice Roster Select program will offer advanced skill development and a more competitive environment for players seeking to pursue competitive hockey.  Players participating in the Roster Select program will play in both their regular Novice house league games and additional practices, exhibition games and tournaments.  There will be 17 roster spots on the Novice Roster Select team (15 skaters and 2 goalies) but additional practice spots may be available if demand exceeds 17 players.
