Christmas Care Packages - November 30th 2016
Hockey Players helping less fortunate students/athletes in their area!

Counselors at our local school board support students throughout the school year to provide families with assistance in numerous areas.

As you are aware the holiday season can be extremely stressful for struggling students and families.  Some students will not receive much during the holiday time.  As a group of Counselors, families and students that could use support during the holidays are identified and offered support in different ways. The Major Atom AA Kingston Canadians are able to give support to these students by making care packages.  These packages would be delivered by the counselors to students prior to the holiday season.

What can be included in the care packages:

School Supplies: pens, pencils, crayons, markers, notebooks, coloring and picture books, word search books, activity books

Hygiene Items: toothbrushes, bar soap, combs, washcloths, deodorant, body spray, perfume, shampoo, condition, lotion, bubble bath, lip gloss, nail polish

Accessories: socks, hats, toques, mittens, hair clips, jewelry –earrings, bracelets, necklace Toys/Games:  deck of playing cards, toy cars, yo-yos, jump ropes, balls, play-doh,

Gift Cards: gift cards for small amount for Tim Horton's, movie pass, etc Treats: Hard Candies, wrapped candy, Chocolate bars, packages of gum, mints, etc.

Or any small items that might come in a Christmas stocking. If you are interested in supporting this cause, you can either – pick an age of student (6-16) and a gender and create a care package for them OR bring items listed above to practice on November 30 at 5 PM at Cataraqui where a group of volunteers will create care packages.

If you are interested to volunteer to help put the packages together on Nov. 30, please let us know.  If you have shoeboxes, Christmas bags, wrapping paper, tape, etc that you want to bring that would be fantastic!!

Thanks for considering this request.
